I am thinking of replacing a handlebar on my Razorback 2001.
What really confuses me is the rear shock lockout lever.
Obviously, it will scratch the carbon handlebar. Is that OK?
Did anyone else solve this problem, and how exactly did you do that?
Thanks,
Megavolt.

... a stem shifter from an old road bike. The factory K2 lockout lever is crap. It uses a bunch of bar space, it's heavy, and it doesn't flex enough to allow you to install it far enough down the bars.
I used a Suntour friction shifter lever from an oldschool road bike that mounts around the quill stem. I just took one shifter off. It flips back and forth above my brake levers and shifters with plenty of room to spare.
I also hear of people using the Fox lockout lever, but that thing is stupid expensive. Basically, any friction shifter lever (or SIS indexed for that matter) would work.
Here is my bar rig for 24hr racing:

True, the shifter in your picture looks tons neater that the K2 one I have. Where did you get it? Honestly speaking, I did try to find something like that in a place where I live, but I couldn't get a used/reasonably priced one, and a pair of new good quality shifters costs pretty penny.

It would be the nicest lever you could use for the K2. Its made from super light aluminum, has a clamping type of mount so you don't have to remove anything off the bar and is indexed clicks for varying amounts of shock movement (to ultimate lockout).
I currently use one exactly like this one on Ebay:

$35 is a good price too. I thought I got a deal at $45. They usually sell for approx. $90.

In San Rafael, CA. Proceeds benifit Trips For Kids, which Gary Fisher champions.
Folks donate their old bike gear, and they build them up into bikes they sell. They also have bins and racks filled with unused parts. If you're looking for vintage stuff, there's a great place to look. Imonna get a rigid fork for my SS from them sometime soon.
I like the Fox lockout lever. I especially like the release button.
Basically, if you find any road downtube shifter, it will fit on this bracket. I'll bet QBP has a bracket in thier catalog.
The Suntour shift lever I used has a nice satisfying ratchet sound when you throw it. Zzzzzip! I also replaced the stock steel bolts with those cool blue anodized aluminum bolts.
