I'm looking for on-line trail building information in order to acquire the skills required to build trails, specially for kid races. I don't have funds available to assist a trail building seminar and that's why I'm looking for on-line alternatives.

Any sources?

Here's the link to the IMBA Trail Building and Maintanance online articles. (http://www.imba.com/resources/trail_building/index.html)

Use the info well. I'm about to try to kick a trail maintainance/rebuilding day into gear to repair damage from the winter and vandalism from unauthorized trail sanitization last fall. There's one local IMBA member that I'm counting on getting on my side (he's also been to the official training) and then I'll arrange a meeting with guys from the LBSs and the land managers.

buy the book from the IMBA site or download it. make sure you get permission from the land owner/manager. ask local business' for donations to fund your trails and feed your volunteer trail builders. you will arrange newspaper coverage, they will get free publicity in local newspaper at your ribbon cutting ceremony and inaugural ride. local bike shops will donate funds..."no trails, no sales" "more trails, more sales" those quotes should get them motivated to fork over some bucks. local boy scouts can volunteer to build trail head kiosk. the possibilities are endless.

here's another quote: "if you think you can or if you think you can't, either way, your right"
