I would like to go, but I can't justify the cost of the ferries, nor can I justify the time away from the gf on Valentines day ;)
Maybe next year.
CraigH 02-11-2004, 10:00 AM Make it a romantic get away weekend to the big city?
We'll have to come ride out in your area some time this year.
scott.com 02-11-2004, 10:32 AM Yes I'm also going Saturady afternoon. Should be interesting.
msylvan 02-11-2004, 10:51 AM ...to show me the trails on Saturday if anybody is willing. I'm bringing my ID, and I would describe myself as a semi-fit, skilled XC rider with wussy hucking ambitions (I'd like to do that 4' drop, it just looks so much bigger than a 3' drop!).
I'll hit the show on Friday for sure, or Saturday if I can't find someone to ride with.
Thanks for the info.
Best,
Michael

CraigH 02-11-2004, 11:09 AM From what I've heard about the Seattle bike show, you'll be disappointed in the Vancouver show.
Unfortunately, I can't ride with you on Sat. as I'll be at the show, then going to the hockey game.
Let us know the next time you are coming up.
msylvan 02-11-2004, 11:40 AM ...so need to head south Friday night or Saturday AM.
Next time though, as I'm there once or more a month and still haven't hit any trails.
Best,
Michael

CraigH 02-11-2004, 11:47 AM Sure, let us know when you are up here.
The Vancouver bike show is only about 1/4 of the stadium. Half is golf and the other 1/4 is adventure travel.
I've never been to the Seattle show, but I hear it is a lot bigger than the Vancouver show. If you are in to the FR side of the sport, that is what the bike portion of the show is focused on. I still think it is worth going if you have the time.
msylvan 02-11-2004, 11:53 AM I'll take you up on it in March.
The Seattle show is pretty balanced between road and mountain, with the mountain part not really freeride oriented. It's not the biggest show in the world, but usually has a nice balance of large and small manufacturers, some local companies, and a couple of custom guys. Also, the demo area is really slippery, which makes for some pretty gruesome falls (the fast kind that people don't even know are coming). I helped in a booth across from the demo area, and our demo must have gone down at least seven times. We warned people, but it didn't seem to help. They might not have it next year for liability reasons.
Bottom line, I probably wouldn't drive down from Vancouver for it unless I was in the market for a roadbike, but it's more than worth the time if you are already here or making it part of a weekend trip.
Best,
Michael
