I've been going through the 2004 IH website and noticed that there are XC race and Trail versions of the Hollowpoint. Are there any differences in the frames or is it simply different component specs?
Also can anyone give me an idea on the weight of the Hollowpoint frame? I'm trying to get a feel for how much (or how little) abuse these bikes can take.
Steve (Not a hucker but wants a bike that can take an occasional 2' drop and maybe a race or two each year)..

Going off some info provided from Interbike, the Hollowpoint and Hollowpoint RL frames are identical. The RL frames use lighter hardware, which I assume consists of the titanium bolts that the 2003 HP 'Team' bikes used. Maybe lighter linkage plates? Dunno.
My Medium HP Expert frame weighed 6.25 pounds.

The RL's use the same frames but w/ ti hardware and Progressive air shocks stock. The forks, wheels, and tires are also lighter than the standard Hollowpoints. The RL's will be kinda rare compared to the standard Hollowpoints. If you're want one order it early!
Last year's frame was about 6.25. This years will be a tad heavier but with a lot more mud clearance and stiffer rear. They should work well for the type of riding you describe you do.
