My wife and I really enjoy BC. The technical sections, drop ins, jumps, etc. Can you find this in any of the other trails around the area? Looked into Blue Diamond and Cottonwood but they seem to just be hard pack trail that wonder through the desert. Am I wrong?

Cottonwood does have some techy sections. You cover alot of area with different spots where there may be some technical riding to your liking. That said, nothing compares to Bootleg.

Cottonwood is pretty tame. The more techy parts are closer to the town of Blue Diamond- I think you can still get maps from the Bike Outpost webpage.

I did Cowboy Trails (just south of the Red Rock scenic drive cutoff on the east side of the main road- look for signs for horseback riding) for the first time last weekend and was very impressed. I was alone and with no map but still had a blast. I would say that at least some of these trails are certainly more challenging than the xc stuff at Bootleg. I later picked up a rough map of the trails at Las Vegas Cyclery on W. Charlseton St. Unknowingly, I went down the "Bone Shaker" downhill which, next to downhill runs at Bootleg, is the most challenging and fun trail I've done in southern Nevada. I wussed out on a couple of the larger drops. The end has really steep, loose, and rocky switchbacks. There are more trails than what is shown on the map. A great place to explore!

That's about it for s. Nevada. But don't forget you're only 2-3 hours away from unparalleled classic rides in the St. George-Brian Head area. Gooseberry, Little Creek, and Grafton Mesas, Virgin Rim, Blowhard Mtn, the list goes on...Southwestern Utah makes for one of the best weekend bike trips period. See www.utahmountainbiking.com

Thanks for the input. Maybe this weekend I'll load up the bikes and just head out towards Red Rock and do some exploring in that area to include the southern sections near Blue Diamond.
