....you should wear it. I think the only thing that kept Specialized from selling more Epics was the price. It is a little high compared to the competition. However, at that price, it compares well. For example, Giant was selling their NRS-3 for about $1,100 (msrp of $1,200) last year and now it is being cleared out for $1000. It is on par with the base Epic (which sold for $1,700 with an msrp of $2000.)

Yes, but the one you saw at Bicycle Warehouse is not the S-Works. Specialized has a deal going to its shops right now to clear out last year's frames with some nice chi-chis:

-2003 Epic Frame, silver
-2004 Epic "Brain" shock (adjustable threshold)
-headset
-Fox Float 80 RL, dark grey, with brake studs.

The shops are selling them from 7-900 dollars.

My buddy just finished building his up yesterday, but he traded out the 80 for a longer travel fork, since his shop is cool and sells enough volume to make the trade.

I live in Australia and have been looking at getting an Epic frame off Ebay, but from what you guys are saying I can get a brand new frame for the same price.

Do you know where I can get a frame online?

I called a shop and they said it was a special promotion for employees only. Hmmmm....maybe they'll hire me.

I work next door to a bike shop, and they usually hook me up with pro forms. The employees are getting the 03 epic frame, 04 shock, and float RL for 500 bucks. Now thats a deal...

Maybe it is because you have an established relationship with the shop. I'm going to hit the phones tomorrow and try a few more shops. I really want that '04 shock...plus I wouldn't mind another FOX shock.
