Over the next few months I will be visiting Little Rock and wanted to know two things,
any reccomendations on where I might rent/borrow a bike XL?
and
if I can get a bike are there trails within an 45 miunte drive give or take, that provide an 2-3 hour ride that someone is willing to tour me around on? or are there regular rides?
I am trying to decide if I plan around a weekend and check out some new trails (always fun) or just plan an in and out.
thanks
Jim

My best advice for trails in the LR area are to check out this site reviews for trails. There are several good trails in LR (esp. Camp Robinson) and just a ton of great rides in the Hot Springs area. (45min-1hr)

If you can spare the 1 hr trip to hot springs there is a totaly great trail at the old landfill. Its an the trail review. Its totaly great you could ride for 1 to 4 hrs out there on it. It's the best xc trail I've ever been on.

This is the trail. When you start out go to the right of the restrooms, trail will come back past parking lot then you go awhile pass a couple creeks then you will be at the landfill enterance, keep going past the lake, you will come to a fork in trail, go Right for a great climb with switchbacks and an great ride down. So go right. Especially if its your 1st time on it.
Stay on the singletrack. When you come down at the end of the 1st part of the ride you will be at the landfill again. A) slightly steep left gets you back to the parking lot (you will be coming back on the left side of the fork that you took right at the beginning). B) If you go right trail continues on and is rocky and some tough parts.
If fyou continued by making a right. At the next fork you can go left to go back or right to continue. If you keep right that ride is a good 2 hrs total from where you are now. If you go the long way by staying right you will run into a Radio Control park (for rc cars and plains, and pass a frisby golf course). You will get to a part that your like where do I go now (at the rc park), just ride straight to the other side past the pavalion, and the trail continues. If you do the whole thing the ride is great. I love the last part as much as the 1st.
Use the landfill as a landmark and its hard to get lost. Most people I have run into comback after the big downhill. thats what I usually do if I'm with the wife, if I have a good 4-5 hrs I do the whole thing. the great thing about the trail is that you can break it up to acomidate your time. I've ridden it about 10 times and I still love it.
Google earth it if you can. It's a good trail to bring your dog on if you are into that (bring some water for him/her), there are several small streams and its not heavly used, but you might run into a few bikers at most.

Burns Park on the river front has a few trails you can ride on.
The CARP trails at Camp Robinson require a membership, but its only $10, to gain access to the base. Lots of single track out there but a little on the rocky side.
