I backpacked for the first time in the Pioneers last summer and loved it. I'd like to head up there again. But my current schedule doesn't really free up until the first weekend of October. For any of you guys familiar with camping/mtn. biking up there....is early/mid October perhaps a bit too late to be up in the Pioneers?
Thanks!

Nick, I think you may be a little late to ride on some of the higher elevation trails in the pioneers. Of course just like any year you may get lucky and miss the snow. If you decided to go just be prepared for the unexpected. Or you could just hit some of the lower trails in the Pioneers. I generally start moving lower in the whiteclouds and pioneers in september. The smokeys are a little lower so they are a good alternative in october.
