I took my San An ( Donna ) out for a ride on Friday afternoon.
The weather was cool but not cold.
The sun was out and there was no wind.
The soil has been about as perfect as we get around Bootleg.
I rode from Henderson to the POW trail head and started up. A guy on a KHS FR 1500 tried to make a race but he couldn't quite keep up.
To add insult to injury, I decided to go up POW the hard way instead of cutting off at Par None like most riders.
Only the strongest climbers on XC bikes usually go up the full distance on POW, but Donna, being the gal that she is didn't let me down. I rode all the way up to Mother Trail on her beautiful 32.5 lb chassis.
I then took IMBA down to Girlscout and climbed up effortlessly. I'm almost 44, but I was feeling like I was 24.
I rode to the top of Girlscout and decided to bomb back down, because Girlscout is one fast flowing trail.
It was perfect. I achieved perfect two wheel drift. I jumped into and out of every dropin.
I cleared every technical section without puckering.
I rode the Ladders and teeter totter without even thinking about it.
I then rode the Lake View loops jumping into dropins and checking out the view of Lake Mead.
I then rode home in a haze.
It was glorious. :p
Later, Eric.
