I just px'd my Fox DHX Air with a guy for a Manitou Swinger 4 way air.

It took the bushings out of the DHX Air before I sent it, but when the Swinger arrived the bushings won't fit!!

What mounting hardware do I need?

Fox uses 1/2 inch hardware and Manitou uses 12mm hardware.
You will need 22mm x 6mm Manitou hardware for your Fury.

Manitou doesn't usually want to deal direct, but you can order the hardware from Adrenaline Bikes.

Don't try to run it with that Manitou hardware, it is too small diameter. The Fox and Progressive both have the same size, among others.

I'm confused The Manitou hardware is exactly what I'm using on my Swinger 3 way air. It fits tight and I haven't had any issues in over a year of use.
Is the 4 way different?

Tim brain farted...
He swapped his Fox shock for a Swinger 4-way Tim, he needs Manitou hardware.

Later, Eric.

Yeah right.

I thought you were trying to use the Manitou hardware in the Fox shock. Manitou hardware is smaller diameter to fit the smaller diameter of the Manitou shock eyelet.

I'd think the DHX Air would be an upgrade from the Swinger, that's why I was confused.

Manitou hardware fits Manitou shocks.

22mm width x 6mm bolts.

Thats what I was thinking, but it might not have been a DHX 5.0.
The Swinger 4-Ways are very nice as well.

Don't bother to mach.

You need to take the measurements from new shox + the bike measure
Approach to nearest metal craft work shop and to ask them to machine the bushing according your drawing from Aluminum 6061 or 7005 or some thing similar, not big deal. It probably will cost appx $15 – $20 to all 2 pare (4 pcs.)
Please see attached pic of my similar demand from my metal craft shop

Good Luck

As I said, 6mm x 22mm, and you'll need a set for each end of the shock, so order qty 2.

Manitou Shock Bushes - 6mm
AVAILABLE IN: 22.2mm x 6.0mm | 60.0mm x 6.0mm | 37.9mm x 6.0mm | 15.8mm x 6.0mm | 18.0mm x 6.0mm | 21.8mm x 6.0mm | 22.0mm x 6.0mm | 24.0mm x 6.0mm | 25.1mm x 6.0mm | 25.4mm x 6.0mm | 28.0mm x 6.0mm | 28.6mm x 6.0mm | 30.0mm x 6.0mm | 32.0mm x 6.0mm

I'm ordering a Rockshox Monarch 4.2 shock soon for my Fury.
But the shop does not have the correct size in hardware, they have 21.8x6 and 22.2x6.

I'm thinking the 22.2x6 would be the best option, and then to adjust size to fit the fury.
Would that create problems or not??
I dont.think so, but i'm not sure.....

You are going to have problems getting the 22.2 mm bushings into the shock cleat. Those things are rigid.
I wonder what bozo manufacturers use those odd ball sizes instead of rounding to the standard 22 mm size like MC and others?

I'm also getting problems with the 21,8mm ones.
But from the 22,2 one could shave some off, with the 21,8mm one can't shave some on, one could use an small metal O-ring in between tho.....

The website states them as being from RS.....

When you order the shock, also order the Rock Shox 22mm or 22.2mm x 6mm mounting hardware. That is typically how shocks are sold, you have to request what size mounting hardware you need. It's unimaginable to me for anyone to do it any other way.

22.2, a tenth of a millimeter isn't enough for anyone to worry about. Actually that's the size that some of the hardware MC was using for some of their shocks.

So far, I'm definitely not a fan of any Rock Shox air shocks. Why are you choosing the Monarch over other more established nice performing shocks like the Manitou X3 or FOX RP23?

22,2x6mm it is then.

Why I those the Monarch, both for the price and availability, especially regarding the Fox.
When one lives in the Netherlands, "special" parts are hard to come by sometimes.
For the RP23, for instance, when I can find one in the EU, I would have to pay almost up to 2 times the price of the Monarch, depending the shop. :eekster: :eekster:
That's not something my wallet allows..... :nonod:

I'm just a little worried that you will try to save money by purchasing an inexpensive shock, but then have it fail on you. Then you will be stuck with a broken shock.

I've pounded on my Manitou 4-way, Manitou X3, and FOX RP3, and have been very happy with their performance and reliability. Maybe you could get a deal on one of these from ebay or the classifieds.

Whatever you choose, good luck and enjoy your bike.

Tim,

Does that 22mm x 6mm size work for the sin as well?
I was able to get a Manitou SPV 4-way for it, but need to order the bushings.. the ones that came with it are too big.

Thanks,

Scott

Yes the Sin uses 22x6 hardware.
Actually nearly all MCs use 22x6.
Shockwave is 22x8
SA DNA is 22x6 in front, 25.4x6 in rear
Battery (proto) is 22x6

Sweet, thanks!

Now to call the shop so we get the right size.. my ruler looked more like 23mm.

Perhaps I should invest ina set of calipers? ;)

The Fury shock mount tabs may be a little on the wide side, but will squeeze in when you tighten the mount bolt. The swingarm shock cleat wont flex though.

Thats what had me concerned about using bigger than 22 mm hardware.
I have a hell of a time, getting the 22 mm hardware into my shock cleat, I couldn't imagine trying to squeeze something larger in.

I am guessing the San Andreas is also 6x22mm?

Will a Fox DHX Air 5.0 fit a San Andreas?
