I also just ordered an ENO rear wheel and ENO freewheel for my Merlin (SS content). Whats up guys!!!! SlowSSer 01-12-2004, 12:06 PM I will be if I can shake this cold by then. :( bummer. hope you can make it. im looking forward to 14 miles of climbing! Drevil 03-30-2004, 08:36 AM My first post on the new mtbr. I also just ordered an ENO rear wheel and ENO freewheel for my Merlin (SS content). I just got an ENO also, and it has given new life to this 10-year old bike. It was mostly hanging around as a frame for the last two years; about the same time I got my blessed Ti bike. The only beef I have with the ENO is how it dropped my BB height. I admit that the ti bike starts off with a higher BB, but the ENO exacerbated the lower height of this bike because I have to pivot the hub upwards to tension the chain, thus dropping the BB lower. I've banged into a lot more stuff with my cranks, which is a little annoying. I guess I gotta learn how to catch more air :D AndyArmstrong 03-30-2004, 08:54 AM Why don't you pivot the hub down? Are the brakes the problem? DmofoT 03-30-2004, 09:49 AM Why don't you pivot the hub down? Are the brakes the problem? Exactly what I was thinking... DT Drevil 03-30-2004, 10:36 AM Exactly what I was thinking... DT Yup, the brakes were the problem. The other thing is that I thought it would slip if my weight was on it. I figured some stuff out with the brakes and a cheater bar, so now it sits pivoted down. We'll see if this mushy-brakes stuff cuts it. jh_on_the_cape 03-30-2004, 11:51 AM I just got an ENO also, :D you realize you replied to a message i wrote a while ago. but the bike looks pimpy. i have taken my ENO for a few rides now. works nice. also have 2 new tires (schwalbe, big jim on the front since this pic was taken), new cables and housing, new brake pads (wore down to the metal, oops!), and new seat which is not in this picture: a fikiz nisene. also got the ENO freewheel on there. oh, and i put the eggbeaters back on, as i borrowed them for another bike when i snapped this picture. if i manage to get a group for the 24 hours of dalton, i am going to spring for a front disc brake. http://web.mit.edu/~jhyatt/www/random/enomerlin2.jpg Drevil 03-30-2004, 12:30 PM you realize you replied to a message i wrote a while ago. but the bike looks pimpy. But of course. I thought it would be funny to put the first post back at the top, while having something relevant to say at the same time. Let's see how many times this thread can be put back up to the top! :D Zenfrog 03-30-2004, 02:08 PM blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah jh_on_the_cape 03-31-2004, 07:58 AM The only beef I have with the ENO is how it dropped my BB height. I guess I gotta learn how to catch more air :D Oh man, on last nights ride everytime i hit my cranks or pedals on a rock or something i thought 'oh, ENO's fault'. you *******! but my hub is at about 10 oclock. that's so minimal, it probably has nothing to do with it, but you have messed with my mind http://web.mit.edu/~jhyatt/www/random/enomerlin.jpg |
