ArmySlowRdr 01-11-2004, 08:11 PM ..so food being one of my great interests I'll just say:
The new Cheese Cake Factory in Waikiki is awesome---fish tacos and avacodo rolls mmmmmmm.
Of course the kraut dog at Costco after the Milianli ride today was awesome too.
As was the mean pastrami on Sourdough I got acrossed the way from Sharks' Cove at the Foodland.
MMM too many calories--not enuff riding.
mtnbikerdude87 01-11-2004, 09:33 PM mmmm cheese cake is the best!!! Always good to eat one once and a while....... :D

It is from the old "Tech Talk" forums. General discussions of bike parts and issues is the topic. Off topic threads is the domain of "Passion".
Sasquatch 01-11-2004, 10:12 PM I think it would be a good idea to add an Off Topic board. I realize that people will still post OT on other forums, mainly Passion, but any amount that gets weeded out and sent to the OT forum will save time for real posts. I thought Passion was designed for posts about riding bikes, and I go there to see pics and read stories of people exploring the trails, not to read the polls, off topic stuff, jokes, and other non MTB related stuff.

Beat me to it!
I am a member of another message board with a very similar format to this one. There we have a totally separate board for off topic discussion, amazinly called "Off-Topic". This tends to keep the non-forum subject material in one spot and out of the main boards. It gets used alot and is one of the more popular boards there.
:)

This approach seems to work OK on RBRreview.
moab63 01-12-2004, 07:55 AM with time no one will remember the old layout.
PROGRE-SS 01-12-2004, 08:33 AM Driving in to work this morning I suddenly had a craving for a good honkin breakfast... eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, toast and coffee. Yum!!! Settled for a bacon and egg on a toasted roll and a Dunkin Donuts coffee.
And I'm still hungry!

BTW: anyone know of a good fish taaco recipe? I've been dying to try one since watching a Food Network show that featured some fish taco place in CA.

from google-food network and fish tacos: amazing that google thing. I saw this particular episode a few months ago.
Tacos:
1 pound white flaky fish, such as mahi mahi or orata
1/4 cup canola oil
1 lime, juiced
1 tablespoons ancho chili powder
1 jalapeno, coarsely chopped
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro leaves
8 flour tortillas Garnish:
Shredded white cabbage
Hot sauce
Crema or sour cream
Thinly sliced red onion
Thinly sliced green onion
Chopped cilantro leaves
Pureed Tomato Salsa, recipe follows
Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Place fish in a medium size dish. Whisk together the oil, lime juice, ancho, jalapeno, and cilantro and pour over the fish. Let marinate for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove the fish from the marinade place onto a hot grill, flesh side down. Grill the fish for 4 minutes on the first side and then flip for 30 seconds and remove. Let rest for 5 minutes then flake the fish with a fork. Place the tortillas on the grill and grill for 20 seconds. Divide the fish among the tortillas and garnish with any or all of the garnishes.
Pureed Tomato Salsa:
2 tablespoon peanut oil
1 small red onion, coarsely chopped
4 cloves garlic, coarsely chopped
4 large ripe tomatoes, chopped
1 serrano chile
1 jalapeno, sliced
1 tablespoon chipotle hot sauce
1 tablespoon Mexican oregano
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro leaves
Salt and pepper
Preheat grill or use side burners of the grill. Heat oil in medium saucepan, add onions and garlic and cook until soft. Add tomatoes, serrano and jalapeno and cook until tomatoes are soft, about 15 to 20 minutes. Puree the mixture with a hand-held immersion blender until smooth and cook for an additional 10 to 15 minutes. Add the hot sauce, oregano, cilantro and lime juice and season with salt and pepper, to taste. Yield: 6 to 8 servings

No, off topic threads are not the domain of "Passion".
Passion is to "share ride experiences" (from www.mtbr.com/techtalks) or "Discuss all things mtn. bike in our Passion discussion board" (www.mtbr.com)

That's all fine and dandy in theory, Jed. In practice, Passion is littered with off-topic tripe and has been for soooo long. Hey Francis, how about an "off topic" forum?

Already mentioned... but the OT board at RBR gets a lot of discussion and definitely keeps some of the trolls out of the "general" forum over there.

There is a new "Political-Socio-Economic-Religion" board here:
