Here is a pic of one of the prototypes, he ditched the Speed Citys according to a later post. Probably a good idea as they aren't really a good FS wheelset.

Although I have no interest whatsoever in a FS 29"er myself, I'd love to see a substantial market for them materialize. Might spur the development of some BIG tires.

Maybe Ryder and Seamus have been talking about the benefits of the big wheels. Imagine those two battling it out for a chance to ride for Canada at the Olympics on a 29'r..........

I got shot down by my superiors on this project. I'm still riding and loving that bike, though. I've also got gears on it now that I have a longer swingarm that allows the rear tire to clear the front derailleur.

Thanks for the update SSMike. I guess that quells that rumor. But don't lose hope yet FS fans, there is another design about to come out of the closet I think....

Did MS ever build up the one you gave him? And just curious I guess, but what did your CS length end up at?

Any idea what length the chainstays are? That seems to me one of the big drawbacks of the FS 29ers. My 293 feels like a limo - makes it difficult to pull up the front end for trail maneuvers.

Bigwheel - I never really followed up with MS. Never got the chance to see him in Vegas. I'll ask him. I have the longer swingarm for his frame too that I need to get to him. CS ended up at 442 - up from 433 on the first run. 442 allowed for a 2.1 nano without becoming a pebble launcher.

4" rear travel. 28.75 now with Sram X.7 trigger / rear derailleur, 02 XT cranks, 4 piston XT discs, Sun rims, Formula (Taiwan) sealed disc hubs, 2.1 steel bead Nanos w/tubes, 959 pedals, Titec ti stem, Easton carbon bars & post, WTB ti railed seat, Fox Float RL rear shock, Marzocchi (forget the exact model name - but it's the 02 model with). As pictured in ss form, it was about 25ish.
