We have lots of great trails to talk about. Let's shout out and see who's riding what.

Our little group has just discovered Tolkul Creek and WOW! pretty rockin' ride. We also ride Tolt, Tiger (when open), Suntop (when the snow melts), Ranger (same as Suntop) and a bunch of other trails.

Where does everyone else ride?

I havnt been able to get out enough to meet riders near me. If you wouldnt mind another once in a while let me know and maybe we can meet for a ride.

Weekly night rides at St. Edwards/Big Finn Hill. On these winter weekends places like Tolt, Griffin Creek, Section 36/Beaver Creek,Tapeworm. Definitely Tiger in the summer. Didn't do as much riding this summer as I'd wanted, I'm going to fix that this year and get out and explore some more places.

Hey Todd...We're always up for meeting new riders. We ride Tuesday/Thursday at St. Ed's, ocassionally Tolt on Thursday. Saturday is of course the big ride day. I'll add you to our e-mail list. We don't ride much near Puyallup anymore. Victor once in a while but that's rare these days.

Hey, I'm down here in Vancouver, USA. My buddies and I typically ride trails between Mt. St. Helens and Hood River. A couple of my favorites are the Ape Canyon/Plains of Abraham trail and Syncline. I started riding more seriously this last year and I'm hoping to get a lot more riding in this year. I'm also hoping to get up there for the ABS 04.

What's up, y'all? EB in the house. In the winter, my crew (which balloons to 15 guys, at times) typically rides close to Seattle for night rides (Tolt, Lake Sawyer, St. Ed's and Tower of Power). On weekends, we'll venture a little further and hit Green Mt., Anacortes, Blanchard Hill, Galbraith and Paradise Valley.

In Summer, it's the usuals for big rides: Devil's Gulch, Suntop/Skookum, Palisades, Whistler, Galbraith, Kachess Ridge, Rat Pac, etc.

I'm getting more into Freeriding, so I'd love to hit the peeler, exit 27 (haven't ridden these yet) and exit 38 more often. Most of my crew are very technical XC riders so I haven't been able to drag them out there, but they're slowly dipping their toes in that water. Any folks out there hit these trails very often? If so, give me a shout. In the summers, I hit Seymour and Whistler for those types of trails, but I'd love to get more of that locally.

Peace out, everyone....

I'm always paging in the "Passion" message board for Peeps from Western Washington. Other than my good friend ToddH, I'm seeing all these names that I haven't seen before. I host August By The Sound. See the passion board for the link to the web site and info about this year's mtbr gathering. Last year, we rode Sun Top, Skookum, Dales Ridge, White River/Boy Scout trails. I also ride St. Eds, South SeaTac, Tiger Mt (when it's open). Last year I also rode Stella's Ridge in Longview with "Red Haze". We usually ride Galbraith at least once a year, but for some reason we never made it. This year, I want to do more out of town stuff like Galbraith, Devil's Gulch; Cle Elum, Mt. St. Helens. This year, the plan is to ride more trails that I've never been too before by using the John Zilly "Kissing the Trail" book.

I go up to Vancouver, BC at least every 3 months, but in the summer it will be more often. I made my virgin trip to Whistler last summer and I plan on going back several times next year as well as riding some of the stuff on the North Shore of Vancouvers. I used to have a pretty good email list of people from Seattle, but I lost it when Comcast screwed up my account. Shoot me an email or a private message. I'm a "B" level rider. It takes me a little bit of time to warm up, and I won't be hammering ahead with the lead group, but I do pretty good for my size and for being a weekend warrior.

Check out the Passion board and send me a message. I'm doing for meeting up with a group for weekly St. Ed's rides. I'll do more postings over here from now on. See you all on the trails.

Seems like all of my riding partners have either stopped riding or are training for marathons. Do any of you folks belong to either bbtc or stmcc or post your get-togethers somewhere?

I mainly ride xc stuff...sometimes with lots of ups and downs. (Lake Sawyer, Victor Falls, McKenzie River, Phil's Trail/Mrazek, Devil's Gulch/Mad Lake is more my bag) Not really into freeriding...like Mellow Yellow consider myself a decent B rider...no blazing speed but can ride a fair distance. No lighting plus family obligations keeps night rides away. But always looking for rides on the weekends.

Anybody else ride the same stuff???

Thanks!

I'm a bbtc'er but I havn't been on any group rides for a long while. I didn't get much riding in last summer; broke my collar bone at Rat Pac in may just as the summer was starting to heat up. I frequent Tiger Mt. (and did a ton of trail work on Preston last spring), also Towers of Power/worm, St. Eds, Ft. Ebey, Tolt-MacDonald. I've been to Green Mt./Gold Creek and Lake Sawyer as well. I'd like to go check out Tokul and Lord Hill some weekend and all the other places I've never been.

Saturday morning ride...miles, hell no idea. We do try to keep a descent pace going the entire time. Some breaks for food bites or mechanicals.

The terrain is a lot like Tolt. Smooth trails but more climbing...which makes for more downhills. :D And the downhills we just found last weekend were pretty kickin'. We're staying away from Tolt for awhile. We've ridden it to death.

Anyway, Tokul is sweet and I'm sure you'll be able to keep up. If not, we can always wait up. We have no problem with that at all. Usually we're waiting for somebody somewhere. You may be the one waiting for us!

If so, I remember you lugging that beast up Tiger Mt. one night last summer . Our crew was hangin' at the beginning of the Preston.

If you're hitting Whistler a bunch, then we should hook up there. One of our good friends (part of our crew) lives up there year-round and we've got the skinny on all the XC trails (er.....what they call XC!!). I'd also love to hit some new trails locally too. As you may guess, FM and MSylvan are part of the same crew. FM's rolling a Turner RFX and MSylvan on an ID - so the tides are slowly turning in our group - as the light XC bikes are turning into burlier do-all types of things.

Crash_flmb, I didn't realize you were one of the guys at St. Ed's that we hooked up with that one night. I think we had a mechanical almost immediately so you guys went on, but I remember you cats. It seems like we've got some good folks on this thread - so let's keep the talk going, ya'll.

yeah, We'd be happy to lead a tour of anacortes or blanchard hill for any of you guys.

It would probably have to be on a sunday though. And be prepared for weed, dogs, sessions, and general silliness. having said that, the trails really are better than anything in the seatlle area. Steeper, more technical, and better scenery. The drive is just over an hour, not really much worse than our local spots...

...is that people ride hard and everyone's a technically strong rider, but we tend to take breaks from time-to-time to session stuff, for mechanicals or various other reasons. ;) If you're a racer or a person that lacks patience, then our group can be pretty frustrating. Those folks last one ride with us. Most of our approaches to the sport differ in some way. We've got a buddy who's on a single speed Spot with a rigid Ti fork and I'll have my Stinky with a Super T - all on the same ride.

The other cool thing is that we have guys that range in age from mid 20's to early 50's so that brings entirely different perspectives and riding styles to the group. Makes for a fun time.

Edit:
Crash_flmb - Just saw your post. Anacortes is the shizzle. Have to know where to go, but there's lots of goodies up there. In the winter, it stays relatively dry and unridden too!

If you're interested, email FM, myself or MSylvan. One of our buddies rides a Racer X and we have a couple of Switchblades in the group as well.

We typically leave Seattle around 10 and get up there around 11:30 with a stop at the "hippie enclave" a little coop in Mt. Vernon. This ride isn't always conducive to everyone's schedule (as it can make for a full day), but it's pretty worthy.

That would be sweet. I know we're planning a weekend at Suntop this summer. We're planning on getting up early, probably around 6AM to start the day. I think the route is to ride Skookum, then climb and ride SunTop, then ride across the street to Ranger and do some more climbing and finish it up with the last little leg of Skookum. It's gonna be a hell of a ride and will probably take about 10 hours (I'm guesstimating). After that, head to the camp and have a big ol' steak and a beer and passout from exhaustion. ;)

Should be fun!

Dudes,

we (EBxTReme, Msylvan, myself and others) rode the cranberry lake area of anacortes on sunday. It was kick-ass. We did about 4 hours of riding including trails 118, 126 and 129. Extremely steep, loose and twisty climbs and descents are typical of this area, as well as lots of exposed granite slabs. It's such good riding... it really makes some of the local rides look pretty tame.

Anacortes is perfect spring riding. They get about 1/2 the rain that we do, and the soil composition up there does pretty well too. I typically don't ride there much in the summer since all the stuff east of the cascades and north of the border is open.... gotta get it while you can. So I would encourage you guys to plan on riding there sooner than later. You'll be glad you did.

Blanchard hill is also really really good. All this riding is just over a one hour drive.

So, lets hook up a sunday ride. Just let me know when you want to go!

Hey EB;

Sorry, but that wasn't me you met on the trails that was riding a Gemini. I'm rolling on a Diamondback XTS. I've been to Whistler once and loved it. I will be back several times next summer as soon as the bikepark opens up. I rode Tiger three times last year. I'll probably do that and St Eduards more often as well. I'll post here and on Passion when I plan on being there. Maybe we'll all get a chance to hook up for a ride.

I'm more of a "B" level rider. I'm not an expert my no extent of the immagination, but I'm no beginer either. Maybe this will give you some idea of what level of rider I am.

See you all on the trails.

What up WA-Ridah's,

I just got done reading through all the threads, man, seems like a great bunch of dude's in the area! I moved here 2 years ago, rode KTM's last summer but sold it and I'm looking at getting a pedal rig for this spring-fall. I snowboard the winter but I'd like to hook up with ya'll come spring! I'm not sure what type of ride I'm going to build this year, I started off with a schwinn homegrown hardtail, ventured into a Giant AC2 in 02', picked up a DH rig last summer, then the KTM. I was thinking about building a sick Hardtail freeride bike this year? I like those full suspension bikes but they seem to be to much of a cadallac. If we had a setup like whistler that would be one thing but, being that most the spots around here from what I understand are pedal to the top, I was thinking on putting together a beefy hardtail. I also miss the lightness of a hardtail and the "bull riding rocker" style when you get clippin' on a good single track. Anyhow, I was wondering if you guys could fill me in on the riding scene around here. Like I said, I mainly rode my KTM all last summer so I'm not too familiar with the good spots aside from Tiger and victor falls which I mainly rode just to get some cardio in. Hit me up if you get a chance at Joshinu@comcast.net and let me know the steez on the area, I would like to get out and ride alot come spring! Talk soon.
