I'll be driving up the coast of Oregon at the end of the month and I'm looking for riding recomondations of a specific kind. I don't have a definite itinerary but we'll most likely hit the coast around Coos Bay and then head north along the highway.

Any trail recomondation has to be near a family friendly area so I can leave them while I go riding. Any recomondations?

Hey George,

I'm in Eugene and don't get over to the coast too much, but there are some great trails in the Cummins Creek/Cape Perpetua area between Florence and Yachats. Wreckless (mtbr handle) lives on the coast (she's a fellow Disciple of Dirt), maybe she would be open to the idea of showing you around. She hosted a ride on those coastal trails for us valley folk earlier this year. Anyway, you can PM her or just look for the trails on a map. They're really good, but you'd be hard pressed to find the good stuff without a local to show you around due to the secret hidden trailheads.

Now if you get into the Willamette Valley around Eugene/Springfield, definitely look me up. I'll be out of town the last week of July but I have the first week of August off, too. Considering a solo bike tour of the Cascade Crest for that week but I could be persuaded to consider other alternatives...

Trip cancelled.. threw my back out last week and I'm still not recovered. I don't think I can take the long drives so we'll be staying local... maybe next summer.
