View Full Version : Fort Rock Group Ride on Sunday August 1 @ 10AM
Severum 07-10-2004, 12:48 PM I have opened the ride up to either date, whatever works best for most of us is what we'll do.
All are welcome, will be planning on a large group. For those that haven't been, you'll absolutely love the terrain.
Same chill concept as the last two rides. No one gets dropped and everyone will be watched for. There are some very technical moves at Fork Rock, I am expecting the more skilled riders to pace themselves enough to give some of the less experienced riders some tips and be a visual showcase for others to learn from.
Planning a two-three hour ride between 10-15 miles covering all of Fort Rock's terrain. Both sides of the highway.
A couple of us are scouting the route this Monday 7-12-04 at 4:30 if anyone wants to join us. We prolly won't hit all the terrain, but will get into the good stuff.
Hopefully Crum's group will join us on, I checked thier schedule and they don't appear to have any events that weekend.
This ride is a stepping stone to a possible Lynn Woods group ride later in the year. If Fort Rock is generally a step up from Bear Brook technically, then Lynn Woods is about the same step up from Fort Rock.

GregDon't do it Gregg don't do it, I told you we would ride again now come down from there.
Severum 07-12-2004, 06:22 PM I'm not changing the date for just one person. It's more of a collective thing. It is looking like Saturday will be the date. Will post for sure soon.
I rode in Fort Rock today. Dan and Jason showed me around the place. I had a good time and saw a ton more terrain then I ever have. I stupidly brought the pig freeride bike, the next trip it'll be the Instinct. Kinda wore me out, I have hundreds of miles on the Rocky and 50 on the K2. Not quite used to it.
So 12 miles and believe it or not 1000 feet of climbing. I always thought it was pretty flat, guess not.
There are some challenging lines in Fort Rock, this group ride will be a great opportunity for all to either share or grow. Hopefully for all it will be great time.
liljoe76 07-12-2004, 06:39 PM Nice view eh, I always love those odd distractions you find in the woods....
I love fort rock, only been twice, but we spent all day and have MANY stories. Louis did your guides bring you out to the bridges just past the powerlines? Some of the best I've ever seen and ridden.
An older map (http://www.exeternh.org/conserv/forest.html) for reference.
Severum 07-12-2004, 06:43 PM We saw everything today. I would say I go the complete Fort Rock experience. Tie in a few other routes, a couple redos in the opposite direction and we have a wicked 15 mile ride.
I always gimp out on the long water bridge. Not sure why. I do the other one just fine.

bBrian, check this out www.pedrosfest.com. Don't know if you want to pay what they want for the festival it's kind of steep. Pre-registration saved 20 bucks. It's a Friday thru Sunday event.
Severum 07-14-2004, 04:45 PM ok, the ride will be on Saturday July 31st.
