By the way, I'm just posting this because Noel loves answering questions about when the Free Radical will be available to the masses so you guys all make sure you ask him about it, OK?

... I already decided the Free Radical is overkill for me and ordered a steel frame that has good standover, slackish seat tube and adjustable dropouts ...

Got any new pics?

I've wanted an FR ever since I saw the first pics posted, cannot remember where exactly. As much as I love my DT, I'm also a big fan of ht's, and also you cannot really have too many bikes lying around.
Oh yeah, btw, Noel, when is this beauty coming out?
I'll probably get it the same time I pick up the wife's Endorphin (unless it's a looooong wait).

Anyone else notice that in every picture with a fork, there is a different fork on the bike? Also, there are two very distinct colors pictured--one is red, and the other is kind of a speckly black color. I think this post is a FAKE!!!! There isn't such a thing as a Free Radical!!!!

You know, I wondered if someone would pick up on that! As for the change in color, Spectrum stripped it and resprayed it as a sample for Noel before he started having his bikes painted by them and I got lucky. I'm actually going to have them respray it again this year with something flashy & special. I'm thinking matte purple with cream panels and the "Knolly" graphics in script and "There is no spoon." down the top of the top tube. I love this bike as if I'd built it myself...in fact I wish I had. If I was still building, I'd be all over bikes like this!

As for the forks, when I first got the bike, it had a Marz 66 RC2, the long one before they shortened them. Beautiful feel, but the the lowers were cracking at the axle clamps. I actually wished I'd kept it and just replaced the lowers, it was the best performing fork I've had on this bike. But, I replaced that with the 66SL ATA. Never liked that fork, nor did I have the time or desire to work on it to make it work like it should, but if you look at Legarto Grande's Nicolai you'll see it there. Put the Boxxer '05 Team on it for DH racing and once I got it tuned right, it rocked. Then I got a new 06 Boxxer Team and the '07 Totem Single Air from RS and the Totem ended up on it. This is only hardtail I've ever seen that a Totem looked good on. I'm loving the Totem but still don't have it tuned ~just~ right but it's not broken in yet either. Frikken' air forks always give me fits; I don't know how I always end up with them.

Right now, the bike (as it is in the first picture except now it doesn't have a front derailleur/shifter but does have a custom chainguide) weighs in at 36 pounds with 1350 gram DH tires and my DH racing wheelset (DT 440's with Mavic 729s and DT Alpine III spokes). I'm going to ditch the Saint cranks and put a set of Profiles with a Ti spindle I have laying around on it, a lighter wheelset, and the swap the tires for the Michi 2.5 USTs (1050 grams) and that will get it to around <33 pounds. At some point, I'm going to swap forks again. I'd like to get it to around 31-32 and it will still be burly enough for anything I'm likely to ride. You know I cleaned Edna Mae the first time I tried it (well, first time I tried it on this bike)!

With the Delirium coming in, I'll probably put the Totem on that....at least at first. :)
