Are the prices the same online at Bikesdirect as they are at a Cycle Spectrum store for Motobecanes?

I do not live near a Cycle Spectrum but was wondering about pricing. Been looking around at parts spec for a backup hardtail and the Motobecane 29 inch bikes look attractive. Assuming the frame is of good quality, the parts are the same or similar to an entry level Cannondale f29 but $400 cheaper. I was wondering if the prices are the same since my brother lives in the Dallas area and they have a store in a nearby suburb. If I could buy one at the Ebay price+tax without paying shipping it would really make it a good deal.

well A) calling them and asking directly would be a start....and B) they might be a little cheaper online actually....it really depends on the bike though...being that you're not paying shipping...... this is from the bikes direct website FAQ's....

Q: Do you charge sales tax?
A: For Bikes shipped to all states except Texas; we do not collect sales tax. For Bikes shipped within Texas, buyer must pay 8.25% sales tax. We give buyers shipping into Texas an instant in-state shipping discount of 8.25%. The net price for bikes shipped within Texas is the price listed on our site..

so i dont understand...are you in tx? if you bought from cycle spectrum you're paying sales tax on say 500 bucks......but no shipping....if you buy from bikes direct, you're getting free shipping, and an 8.25% discount, to negate the sales tax they have to charge you....you wont get that from an ebay seller....and the bike is shipped straight to your door, and you wont have to go pick it up from you brother or buddy.....just buy it from bikes direct....

I live in Arizona and live close to a "Bikes Direct" store. I was looking to possibly buy a bike and was quoted a price of $429 plus tax for the same bike I could get online for $399 shipped. What you get for that extra $30 plus tax is:

1. A completely built and tuned bike.

2. Free service i.e. tune up, wheel truing etc. for life

Well worth it in my opinion. That being said I bought a different bike. :D

Hope that helps
