One idea for a personal vacation in the future is to attend the two week UBI frame building class. You can walk away with you choice of a brazed, TIG, or Ti frame as your class project.

Has anyone here taken this frame building course?
If so, I would like to know:
- what course did you take (braze, TIG, or Ti)?
- did anyone not get to finish their frame project?
- was it worth it?
- if ya got pics, can you post your frames?

I would love to build my own lugged steel all frame like the old Bridgestone XO or the current Rivendell Atlantis. A bike burly enough for fire roads and zippy enough for road rides. It would be something I enjoy for a long time and cherish.

Gotta start saving up the dough in the meantime

I haven't been, but I know a local rider who did and said it was worth it. I've been batting the idea around myself. In the meantime, I've been absorbing knowledge on this mailing list:

Thanks for the link. I subscribed to it to start doing my homework.

Oh, I've been to your website. I recently bought a Jones H-bar and read the review you wrote for it on your single speed site. I dig mine. Don't think I'm going back to flats or risers after riding with these pupsters.

I was off the Jones bars for a bit recently when I was riding a different bike. Back on them now and really digging them again. Definitely notice a difference.

and had a look at their frame building class, I'm no expert but I would learn how to weld before spending any time or money on a frame building class.
