Planning a road trip mountain bike tour later in the month. We'll start with Kenosha Pass; then Monarch Crest, then spend three days in Crested Butte. On our way back to Denver, we'd like to come home via Aspen.

What's the best ride? It'll be the last day on a mountain biking trip, so it doesn't have to be an epic ... !

Thanks for any advice.

The best ride in Aspen is probably the government trail. Look it up or ask at any shop and they will get you started. I would spend a 4th day in CB before going to Aspen though. CB is one of the world's coolest towns, Aspen is ok.

Personally, I'd do 403/401, followed by Teocalli, followed by Deer Creek, followed by Reno flag bear deadmans and skip Aspen. Gunnison or Breckenridge would be better than Aspen as well

Done all of them, and you are correct. We should spend another day in CB. Thanks for the info on Gunnison and Breck. Never ridden either (got close outisde of Georgia Pass ...) Which ride(s) in Gunnison or Breck would you recommend? We may just re-route our itinerary ....

thanks much!

I would add either Hartmans rocks or the doctor park / matchless area in and around Gunny. Breck has a lot of great rides, I need to remember the name of the one I thought was the best. I'll look it up when I get a chance. You could also hit winter park on the way home or Buffalo Creek, but if you live in Denver, you have probably done those a lot.
