I am going to buy a GF Rig and not sure which size to get. I test rode the 17.5 xcal and it fit pretty good but from what I read alot of shorter riders are happier on the small. I am a little over 5'7" with about a 30" inseam. I am still thinking medium but just curious from similar height riders experience on fisher 29ers.

i would stick with the med. the small on a race type bike would put you at a serious disadvantage. you will be much happier on a med.


or you could go test ride each size and make you own choices.

I tested the medium and liked the feel. I was curious if I would be happier with the small but for a race bike I would prefer it to be on the long side. Thanks for the input. I am still going to go for a spin on the small before I buy just in case but currently ride a medium NRS and the top tube is about the same as a Fisher medium 29er.

My friend is taller than you - maybe 5'8" or 9" and rides a small rig and SuperCaliber 29. 29er's already have a long enough wheel base, and Efeective top tube compared to 26ers. Definitely try to ride both before buying.
