I am new to the Kalama area and am looking for some good places to ride. Any suggestion would be great.

Check with the LBS's in Longview for local rides. There is also Ape Canyon which still may be snowed in and Lewis River. Both are just out of Couger. Check out the reviews on this site for more directions and info.

Go to the Singlespeed Board and ask for redhaze. He's a Longview local and rides all the time. He can lead you to Stella/Harmony Forest, the local singletrack stash. Also, Siouxon Creek is not far from you and is a fantastic trail. I rode it just last month and hiked it yesterday. Highly recommended.

Agreed, Ape Canyon is absolutely fantastic, and once you get up onto the Plains of Abraham (that's Mt. St. Helens) you're on one of the most scenic MTB trails on the planet. I'm sure it's snowed under higher up, though - in the area this weekend there were snow patches from about 4000' on up.
