My son and I did Lawler yesterday, it was very nice. Went to Lone Wolf Shelter first. No rain, warm, a little fog rolled in. Not too many blowdowns. Trail condition excellent. Saw Elk tracks but no humans. I took 245 pixs, my usual amount. Everything impresses me in Oregon.

Tom, it's great to see all the recent posts you've put up. And here I thought you quit riding on dirt. I guess you have just been doing lotsa secret rides. Hope to see ya on the trails this summer, hey post a ride on the DOD page if you ever want some company. Later, Sasquatch

P.S. If you took 245 pics, post a few more next time.

Hi Matt, thanks to you I know a little about Oregon trees. I kinda started doing my own thing with my wife and Son, she's happy to shuttle us around. Most of the DOD are in too big a hurry to stop for pics, especially a few hundred. We are in no hurry, Oregon is over the top gorgeous.

We have ridden a lot of trails and I have learned how to use my digital camera. We enjoy getting up late, driving up to Oakridge, and shuttling a trail or two. We aren't too keen on long gravel climbs.

You are always welcome to join us, we usually have room for one more passenger. Love those trees!

Can you be more specific about where these trails are? Enjoying the photos! Ever ride down near Ashland?

245 is a shtload of photos to take on a ride! you must be stopping every 10 seconds!!!

Have fun!

Lawler is just before you get to Oakridge, it starts on Patterson Mtn and drops 3000 ft to highway 58. It's on the Willamette National Forest map. It's easy to find.

I have never riden in Ashland but I've heard good things. I work with a guy, Geoff, who used to live there. He said it was nice.

I took 50 pixs driving up the dirt rd to Patterson Mtn. I took 11 pixs at the shelter, I took a pic of a slug in the trail, fungus on trees. I usally take 10 pics just doing a switch back. There are lots of switchbacks. I'm always looking for anything interesting to photogragh. It's not like your wasting film with a digital camera.

It's like art, I'm always looking for the most interesting things to capture. Like the 10 pics I took of a hollow log. I put the camera inside, set the timer and took a pic of us from the inside out, it's intersesting.

I think sometimes we forget to look at what's around us. There's so much to see riding a bike.
