I saw a rumor on another forum that Balfa will be no more and Rocky Mountain is going to stop making fullies. Is this true? I already went through this with GT.

It is true, Balfa is no more. As for Rocky though there will be now change in how that company runs and do not know of any bike change in there line for 05. Talked with Kevin at Rocky and he also said that the company will go through no changes.

Balfa isn't exactly a great loss. The frames were overpriced, not that well thought out/designed, and generally very poor sellers.

Rocky Mountain isn't changing besides making better bikes and I have heard they are going head first into Road Bikes. Maybe that is just a rumor.

Balfa isn't exactly a great loss. The frames were overpriced, not that well thought out/designed, and generally very poor sellers. Agreed they were funky designs, but have you ever ridden one? I had a 2Step FR for a season and loved it, my buddy rode a 2Step DH last year and loved it... The BB7 is a great ride too.

Yeah, they didn't sell all that well, but they were nice rigs that were unique in the market. Now all we're stuck with are rocker-arm designs (with or without the Horst), VPP and single pivots. None of those designs are revolutionary--they just put on a 5th and call it good. Everyone relies on the shock technology these days.

Anyway, I knew the folks at Balfa really well, so it bums me out to see all their work trashed. They tried designs that nobody else did. Some worked really well and others so-so. But, at least they were trying new and different ideas--I can respect that! I'm sure you can too.

But, I guess we'll all have to just settle for the same old 1995 technology (single pivots, rocker arm and VPP).

i don't believe that balfa is gone, if they really stopped production, they would put out some sort of press release, especially now that they are owned by a big company.
