toonces 06-10-2004, 02:24 PM looking to relocate and wanna know what the locals think of the towns in colorado. i've been to most of the larger towns on the outter edge of the mountains and i like durango best. how does grand junction compare in riding, temperatures, nitelife, people? is glenwood springs a good place to live for a single, twenty-something bum?

Junction is fun, but HOT HOT HOT in the summer, it's been 95* + every day and will keep getting warmer till about late aug early sep when it starts to drop back into the 80's

Scary Mc 06-21-2004, 01:43 PM I offered it up when I was here in May and you never piped up..... Anyway, we took the house that you took the pics of so I'm living in GJ now and will be happy to get you the beer. SNPA right?
I drive a black Jeep Rubicon w/ a white RocketBox on it, so give me a yell if you see me around town.
I've been waiting fot the weather to do soemthing all day and I'm heading out to ride Horsethief and a few others in a few if the trails are dry....

88 Subaru wagon with a ragtop and ridiculous bike hauling capacity - usually seen travelling at high speed with a "Papa John's Pizza" sign on the roof.

Yeah I'm waiting for my roomate to get back from work - Was thinking of riding mo' fun. Then again, shuttle runs would be good. Anyways, e-mail singletrack at ravenspaced dot org if you get this in the next few minutes. I'll go ride, especially if there a 12er involved.
It 3:00 pm right now. 2:58, actually.

Cool. GJ is nice, but there is no nightlife that Jen and I can find....

Yer not looking hard enough. Try the Spotlight, there's always good people around. Good music too.
Tonight is open mike at the Sports Page, the Rockslides beer sucks but its a good place to hang out and has food specials (important for an under-employed student bike junkie). Also music on the patio on weekends.
Fast eddies is closer to your place if you like to shoot pool, plus they've got really hot bartenders. Maybe not the best reason to take your gf there.
Quincy's is NOT a gay bar, and along with Cruisers, are probably the best places to get sloppy drunk.
The Ale House is too rich for my budget, although they have $2 PBR in a can. Which is still a rip off.
Wiskey River is a good place to get your ass kicked by a cowboy, and at old Chicagos you'll get it kicked by a meathead.
If you're looking to pick up a STD or consider Brittney Spears a musician, check out Bourbon Street. The Blue Moon has a full moon party which generates a similiar crowd, but it only happens one Wednesday a month.
You could go to the Corral (pool hall), but arm yourself first.
I'm from Pittsburgh, so I'm accustomed to having 300 packed bars to choose from. Well, GJ ain't the Burgh or NYC or Chicago or even San Antonio. But its not that bad. Better than Moab anyway.
toonces 06-23-2004, 01:37 PM dame, that's some good info.

Scary Mc 06-25-2004, 09:10 AM Jen and I had a great ride yesterday on the Kokopelli system. We linked Mary's to Steves and back, not the hardest ride around but my gawd is was beautiful! I'll post some pics on MoJo later.
