So what up around Monroe Wa. can I find a good trail at this time of the year. I be in Monroe about June 5th or 6th. Then looking for some rides. I head over to the coast June 9th to moclips for my Dads Birthday june 9th 10 7 11th.
So I'm just checking in to see if any one going to be out and an about. and may want to lead me around or just send me in the right direction. I'm always looking for hard a hard climbing tech. trails or just somthing in the woods.

Can you make it up to Bellingham? There's some stuff up here you might like. Do you have time to drive much from Monroe?

Monte
ps: I e-mailed you using the address you have on this board, did you get it?

There's lots of little riding areas around there. Its not my neck of the woods, but I'd check into a local shop and ask around. There's lots of hills and woods, so there HAS to be a ton of rides in the area. Most of its probably unofficial stuff on tree farm land. And definitely do the drive over the pass to Mission Ridge/Devils Gulch!

A couple areas to ask about:
Lord Hill Park (close to Monroe, small area)
Reiter Pit (moto madness)
Paradise Lake (now officially closed)

Can't play tour guide that week, but can point you to the closest goods.

If you've got wheels and the time, check out Nason Ridge, which is about an hour east of Monroe out hwy 2. Snow melt has been pretty early this year, so there's a good chance you can do the whole route on the map I posted, about 40 with some nice ST, some road, and lots of climbing. Give the ranger a call to find out the latest conditions. Otherwise, start at the eastern end of Nason ridge and do an out and back if things are still snowed in at the top of the ridge. Also, the Chikamin basin should be melted out. Check out GreenTrails maps 145/6 for these rides and a bunch of others.

Another good bet but more driving, head further east to to Devil's Gulch/Mission Ridge for a good snowless ride in the mountains. A google search of the Leavenworth area will turn up many rides. Unfortunately, there isn't much on the west side of the pass, though there are many miles of FS roads if you can't make it over the Pass.

Let us know what/if you ended up riding.

Monroe this coming weekend huh?

What to ride? Well, it really depends on how far you want to drive and what kind of ride you're looking for. To kill a couple hours, as Juice stated, Lord Hill Regional Park is your best option. It's about 10 minutes away. After that is Cherry Valley, Japanese Gulch, Wallace lake, Rieter Pit, Tolt-MacDonald, Griffin Creek South, Armstrong or Victoria Tracts up North. The MS Mountain Bike Ride will be going on the 5th in Fall City. It's about 40 minutes South on 203 from Monroe. You can get more info on all those places on teh WA trails page. There's plenty of singletrack to pick from within an hour's drive. I'm riding the MS Saturday and that means Sunday is out for family time. Sadly, you need to drive a bit from Monrovia to get anything that rivals Fruita. The ACFL in Anacortes is probably your best bet. Unless you want to drive a couple hours East to Naches or Chikamin Ridge/Chiwawa, and yes, slightly further is Devil's Gulch. Just under 2 hours North is Galbraith. The weather may still be good enough to keep conditions good there. Check: www.whimpsmtb.com for info up there.
Lot's of options. So little time.

As for Moclips....Hmmm, hit either Capitol Forest outside Olympia on your way if you go South or take the Edmonds-Kingston ferry West and go around the penninsula and hit either Dungeness River-Gold Creek or Mt. Muller just past Lake Crescent. Both sweet NW rides.

Dont forget to bring your winter riding gear, especially your rain gear. Moclips, Washington is one of the rainiest places in the United States-along with the rest of the Washington Coast. Its pretty lightly populated, I think mostly because of the weather. The area is laced with logging roads and I would think if there are any local bikers their loops are made up of logging roads. Monroe isnt too far from Wenatchee and Leavenworth and the classic Devils Gulch-Mission Ridge Loop.

Dang - I'll be in Leavenworth that weekend at the Bavarian Bike & Brew Festival. Sure wish I had the time to hook up w/ ya for some riding! Say hello to Sarah and the rest of the gang down there in Fruita when you go back.

For the Monroe area, Tolt-Mcdonald county park is the place to be. It's in Carnation, WA due south from Monroe on HWY 203. Devil's Gulch, while one of the best rides in Washington, is still two hours from Monroe and by the response on this board, getting quite crowded. If you want to experience true western washington style riding, Tolt-McD's is it. It will keep you busy for a few hours with tight twisty technical single track. Check out this website for directions.

The Pilchuck Tree farm is a little over an hour from Monroe and another good place to ride. Go west on HWY 2 to I-5, go north to exit 300 I think, go right to the dead end and park. I believe this is still open but check with others to be sure.

Paradise lake would be a good place but it was "officially ;) " closed to MTBs.

Moclips? Not much there.
