View Full Version : Marin mount vision versus SC blurr jacques 01-28-2004, 06:45 AM Which one and why ? Any opinion welcome ! Axe 01-28-2004, 05:13 PM Which one and why ? Any opinion welcome ! They do have pretty different sizing and geometry, which may be the deciding factor for you. I did like Quad suspension. I did not like VPP suspension as much. Marin will take wider tires and taller fork. Blur feels faster and looks better. They are very close in performance IMHO. Back to the fit question. derby 01-28-2004, 06:14 PM I test rode both off road. Both had AVA air shocks with 100mm Float forks set up by professional experts for me. The Quad was stiffer, less bump compliant, when soft or hard pedaling seated and standing. I much preferred the Blur. I like smooth rides that don't bob excessively and the Blur doesn't bob at all when pedaling hard, not excessively when soft pedaling, the Quad actually bobs more when hard pedaling but less when soft pedaling. I preferred the Blur's corner handling, but I like smooth handling too. The Quad felt choppier in rough terrain pedaling or not. I prefer the older Marin monopivot ride better. Neither are noticeably better at rear braking traction compared to most other bikes, particularly compared to the higher braking traction of Horst link braking. A Blur can be firmed up to ride more choppy like the Quad when soft pedaling with platform shocks, but the Quad can never be made to ride as smooth as the Blur. Sorry Marin. The Blur VPP has a great smaller bump compliant very stable ride. The Quad felt like the damping was noticeably harsher in comparison, perhaps the difference is that the Blur can ride with stability with more sag, lower spring rate which is more bump compliant. Softer springs and more sag with the Quad would increase the hard pedaling bob which was already greater than the Blur. - ray |
