I have been exploring all over the Encampment/Saratoga area in search of mtb trails and I keep running into wilderness areas or private land issues. The US Forset Service said I can just go out an explore. (Gee, thanks)
I want to know if anyone knows where there are good backcountry trails single track. Two track isn't that fun with all the traffic up there. Obviously, the Encampment River and the Divide Trail are off limits b/c of the wilderness issues. I have hunted all arouind Green Mountain only to have the trails peter-out. I thought I had an in when I found out my father-in-law was a hunting guide in that area for the past 20 years. He doesn't know diddly about bike trails. Only hunting areas.
Can anyone help me out with recommendations?
Thanks!!!

I have run into the same issues trying to ride near Encampment. The Green Mountain Falls trail is cool, but too short. I guess you should take Harrow's advise.

On the way out of Saratoga towards Rawlins the turnoff for the Platte has some killer trails, kinda hard to find but if you know where pick bridge is, from there you can ride along the river for around fifteen miles, some of it singletrack, some dirt road. I think up toward Ryan Park would be a good bet. My mother lives in Saratoga and grandfather in encampment. Never really thought about biking around there, let us know what you find!!
