I was wondering how they rode? Can a 26inch frame be used for this project but putting a 29inch wheel on the front. Please fill me in on the ride quality.

This is a daily topic on here, very controversial. There's even a halfbreed FAQ.
Ride quality : front possibly better (depends on conversion), rear the same as a 26"er, although it will seem harsher due to the comfort unbalance.
