I recently bought an old Xizang... I bought it because I simply had to -I saw it in the local classifieds, it was my size and the prize was reasonable. After some bargaining it even became a great prize.
After having received the frame I started wondering what I was going to use it for? Having just spent an enormous amount of cash on my full-sus trailbike it didn't make much (economical) sense to start building a XC lightweighter. So the frame just stood in the livingroom -a nice piece of artwork but not what it was intended for originally ;)
Then one day when I was passing the frame on my way to the kitchen feeling guilty that it had been without wheels for more than a month it struck me!! I'm going to build the coolest commuter ever.. The mission is to build a stealthy and cheaplooking bike that really really rocks. Now I can justify spending a lot of cash and time on it :)
I'm thinking that I have to peel of the stickers in order for the bike not to signal "Steal me" and I even thought of replacing them with a set of Timberline-stickers just to signal "low-end-don't-bother-to-steal-it". Does anyone know where to buy GT stickers (preferably online)
How about some ideas and recommendations for wheels and other stuff?
I've decided on an old Pace fork which is really lightweight and cool but that's about it.. (Don't have a picture with the fork yet, will upload when available)
Here's the frame as it looked with it's old components on:

And here's the picture of the polished frame WITH stickers:

I have a small question too. The guy I bought it of claims he bought it (new) in 2001. But if I remember correctly the blue color scheme shows that it's 2000 frame? Or am I confusing the years??
What do you think -Am I totally nuts??
Cheers, Kasper
