I have the instructions you posted earlier, but I have a question. Did you just put the copper pipe/dummy axle sections on over the black clamp part sticking out from the main red tube? I have the Hurricane mount, I just wanted to double check exactly what you did before setting things up and throwing my bike on the roof of my car. Thanks.

Yes. The black part is a 20mm tube.
