Anyone out there going to do the Bavarian Bike and Brew Mountain Bike Race? Its coming up June 5. I did it last year-great race course-pick your poison one, two or three 8.6 mile laps. Each lap has a gain of 1800 feet and is 8.6 miles. There are four water crossings. After the race they have a nice little beer garden set up. Entry is $12 into the garden, last year they had a band out there. This is a pretty nice little race. Last year some of the real bike nuts went down to Wenatchee and raced in a criterium. :)

Well seing how I only have one bike, would it be worth it to enter in on a DH rig with a front shifter and two rings? I still like to ride xc but only if theres a rewarding downhill run at the end of the climb, I think I could manage at least the first lap on my rig...?

I think its 5.5 miles uphill and most of that is single track. The grade is pretty much the same all the way to the top. Its about three miles down hill on an old logging road that is starting to look like single track. I remeber one guy passing me like I was standing still. Last year a 6 foot jump was set up near the start and guys who brought down hill rigs were going off it all day. Kona bikes brought a bunch of demo bikes up including a down hill rig. Because of the long climb the young and the light seem to have a big advantage. The locals ride this loop quite a bit. Its called Freund Canyon and its just a couple of miles out of town.
I'm hoping to be there again with the singlespeed. Last year sure was a lot of fun and the beer was pretty darn tasty as well. Hope the "leisure class" makes a return too. That was serious fun to say hello to those guys.
