May 12, 2006- Anaheim, Ca: Kote Driscoll landed her first podium
finish of the year at the Fontana NORBA National this past weekend. Kote took
home a 4th place finish in what proved to be an extremely tight race, with
only one second separating 2nd and 4th place. Despite working a full-time
job with long hours, Kote's ability to perform despite limited training
showed a glimpse of the potential she has. In what may possibly be a
breakout year for this fledging female DH pro, Kote has taken to her
factory prepped CHUMBA Racing F4 bike like a true pro.
Conditions at the Fontana DH were typical for SoCal, loose dirt, steep
granite faces, blown-out turns with misguiding ruts, and a pedal your
guts out straightaway. Despite the conditions, athletes must control
their temptation to overexert themselves on the 2:00+ course, for
patience and timing proved to be the method to take a top spot on the
podium. Kote had no problem deciphering the DH course on her race run
and put together a solid race that caught the attention of many
veterans in her class.
