Hi there,

Looking for a fork reccomendation...

Fork criteria:

Frame is either a Steelhead or a Chameleon (I own both)
Currently I weigh 220 (trying to get down to 190) & want to start on some small DJ's (tables & doubles), some urban riding & commuting (my company is moving 1 mi. away :D
Need a fork that can handle my weight (Im just starting w/ jumps so I'm likely to wreck :mad2: ).
I'd love a fork that could handle trail riding as well since this bike will likely be used as donor trail bike for friends.
20mm would be nice.
Budget around $300 or so...new or used

Thanks for your help...

Mark

Go for Marzocchi Dirt Jumper with reasonable price in it's category

Maybe an 05 Manitou Sherman Jumper. Not the lightest fork option, but they are burly as hell and are 20mm thru axles. my $0.02

Marzocchi DJ is HEAVYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. o3 was light but cracked around the crown and dropouts. o6 is light too. o4 and o5 were tanks.

Sherman Jumper is not heavy for a DJ fork. Flick will probably be too much travel unless you reduce it...

Pike owns.

Yeah Ive heard dirt jumpers are way heavy. Pike's seem to be the general consensus for a good fork for jumping/trail riding, I just havent seen too many going for 3 bills or less... :(

Look for o5s on closeout. There are plenty. I got mine for 250 in November brand new... But I've got connections too.

ive got an 05' DJ 3.It is a bit on the heavy side for some people, but it is always good to have a little weight on the front.Make me an offer and i will sell it to you cheap!

Do not get the d-street. the '06 dirt jumpers are pretty damn light, but if you can, get the pike, motion control and u-turn are nice features to have. Mind you, you may have to change the springs, all rock shox I have tried were severly undersprung.
