Ok, so I first(mistakenly) posted over on the singlespeed forum - I have an IRO Mia that I thought would be a great trial run for a 29" front wheel/26" rear wheel project. I am pretty sure the fork will take a 29" wheel, and so I am assuming all I need is a wheel, tubes, tire and rotor(I have the stock promax brakes - work well enough to not replace yet). I figure I can turn the stem upside down so the front end isn't too tall. Any suggestions on making this work or cheap 29'er front wheels would be appreciated.

FYI, I believe that the Mia will accomodate 29" wheels front AND rear.

If you only swap the front wheel, handling (on top of the large wheel's characteristics) will be altered dramatically. And the MIA already has a pretty short fork, right? swapping both wheels will skyscrape the BB, but some actually like it that way.
Since you're buying a front wheel already, and a rear too now, consider the upcoming Monocog 29er for a test ride. $469.99 MSRP, complete bike...

I just posted about my Mia 29er in the singlespeed forums...

"You only need one", but you should have two 29" wheels.

I am one that really likes the higher bottom-bracket. I call it clearance. Overall, the bike feels just as stable as it did as a 26er..
