Crash ... tough question your asking regarding the tires, depends what the conditions are like on the course... many times the longer races will throw in a large percentage of the race onto gravel/jeep roads, so a minimal knob tire with low rolling resistance might be a great choice, which race are you planning to do ? The NBX series from Nokian are a great riding tire for many conditions, so they might be a good choice for you, i have them on one of my bikes but in the 2.3 version ( go slow version ).
