the plan was to go to asheville (from michigan) this long weekend but the weather doesn't look promising - on and off rain. anyone local have better weather insights?

This is my favorite weather site for Asheville and surrounds. He only forecasts 5 days...which is usually about as far as anybody can expect to get right anyway.

Best time of the year. Shortly its gonna be hot, hazy, and the ever present chance of a t-storm. See my post from last weekend in Passion from a packing trip up in Pisgah just last weekend. The weekend before it was will into the 70s up there. Its that "box of chocolates" that we all love so dearly.

In fact, heres a link to a more detailed post over in the outdoorreview board. I used to be the moderator there..that is until I abandoned them for mtbing for the most part. LOL!

Note how most all the snow had already melted by trips end. Suns just too high now for any staying power, short of above 5000' and the northern exposures. As far as bikings concerned, you will not be up this high for all the best trails. No way. The taller snow covered summits are 6200+'.
