Has anyone scouted out Durham yet to see if it can be ridden? I'm hoping that the sandy areas are dry.

I rode Durham for the Uxbridge Icebreaker.. was still quite icy in some spots and extremely muddy in the areas where the ice had melted.
Don't know what it has done since then.
Anyone been back since?

I was in there on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday it was still pretty moist with lots of ruts from the race. There are funny places where you can feel the drag of the wet ground yet I didn't see any tracks behind me. Might be the fact that I'm running narrow 1.9 tires. Mind you, I was surprised at the tiny amount of mud I collected so I'd say it is not that wet.

Sunday was great with the cold since the ground was nicely frozen. You gotta' watch out for frozen ruts lest you get sidetracked but other than that it was really good.

I suspect if we don't get too much rain this week that the weekend should be good. I'll probably be in there at least once this week so I'll let ya' know before the weekend...

In the Forest on Good Friday, trails are only damp in the low lying areas. 3 Rocks area is still wet based on a conversation with other riders.

I just got back from Durham and it was great! Some wet sections in low areas but the majority can be ridden. A couple of the double tracks are rutted but the single track is awesome. Enjoy!

I dunno about that...
I just rode durham today and it was mucky in alot of area's. Major Glen was the same if not a lil more so.
The top is dry basically and where theres mud the top is muddy but the ground is frozen below it.
I shouldve took a pic of my bike and posted it. It had way more mud over then I like ( I like dry conditions alot better )
Alot of ruts alright! I thought I was going to wipe out a few times when flying down a hill and riding in them.

Does anyone know if Durham forest have lots of poison ivy? I haven't visit this place at all. I want to ride there this year since Dagmar is closing.

Is there any chance of getting lost there? Is there any gas station or corner store nearby for me to get some snacks?

Has anyone used GPS for riding in this area?

If you dont have much sense of direction you might get lost but since they tossed in those lil signs I really havent had that much a problem finding the main parking lot with them. If you decide to ride at Glen major/3 rocks and go off the main trail along the fireroads you might get lost. I did one time for like an hr, too many left turns I guess and not enough rights ;)

As for gas stations or corner stores, I cant help you there as the only ones I know of are the ones by the 401 and brock rd. Though there is a nice lil shop somewhere just north of durham that has nice sandwhiches there I just forget the name but that was a few years ago and dont know if they are even there still.

There is a gas station/dinner at Coppin's Corner. Uxbridge is about a 10 minute drive away. I think they may have a few places to eat. :)

You can head from durham forest on your bike down durham road 21 into the hamlet of Goodwood (probably 10 minute ride away). There is a couple of options, Mrs Wideman's Foods (which I hear is really good) or even the Goodwood gas station has a decent array of snacks. Otherwise like the last guy said Uxbridge isn't too far away you'd want to get back in your car for that trip though.

Bikenxs.com had a race condition report.

Corn snow on slush and mud.

Give it another week or so before it dries out.

Took the dog for a walk at Durham Forest yesterday. Still had some wet snow on the ground. Really muddy near the trailhead. It looked like people were already riding there because the trail had lots of tire damage on the muddy spots. It doesn't look ready for at least another two weeks.
