Thanks Frazz 04-05-2004, 05:07 AM In the Ithaca area (approx. 30-45 min. south of Syracuse) there is one place you really should check out... Shindagin Hollow. Miles and Miles of twitsy fast, narrow singletrack. It is one of my favorite places to ride. I live in Boston now but grew up in the Ithaca area and this place is still one of my favorite trails in the whole country. For directions and where to park, check out the trail reviews on this site or call/stop in to the Cayuga Mountain Bike Shop in Ithaca. They should be able to point you in the right direction. Frazz. jacksonpt 04-06-2004, 12:26 PM Down towards the Binghamton Area... there's Oakley Corners, Jenksville, and Chenango Valley State Park. All have reviews and direction on this site. ridesallyride 04-07-2004, 08:32 PM Lance at the Bike Loft on South Bay Rd has rides every Sunday. They post where there going on there website. I've ridden with them before and we did a pretty demanding 25miler. The nice thing is they know exactly where there going so I could concentrate on the dust trail of the 15yr old kid I was following. Theres also a book on mountain biking Central NY at Eastern Mountain Sports. They list alot of trails not far from Syracuse and along Lake Ontario. I recomend a ride up at Southwick Beach State park for speedy single track with a nice beach for the end of the ride. And also Labrador Twin loops for a pretty demanding climb and well worth it veiw. Happy trails. David berkshire_rider 04-10-2004, 10:11 PM I want to go riding and I am wondering what are some good trails in central New York? If you are staying in Syracuse, definitely ride at Splitrock in Camillus.Decent trails, and rocky. If you aren't using tubeless, make sure you bring extra tubes. If you want nice singletrack north of Syracuse, try Great Bear just north of Phoenix. Went yesterday and the terrain wasn't too bad. Email me for directions if you need them. mgagas@twcny.rr.com |
