I'm trying to come up with a set of wheels to use on my Prophet for street riding and I want something really light. I have not really set a budget for this so I'm trying to get ideas of what I'm getting myself into.

I'm about 150 lbs and the bike is about 30 lbs. These wheels will only be used on the streets with 700 X 23 or 25c tires. I have the suspension set up to be plush, which I hope will take some of the load off of the wheels. I want to run a larger 700c wheelset because I want the lower rolling resistance and greater choice in streetable tires.

The only requirements for these wheels are that the front hub be either the WOOdman Lefty hub (24, 28, or 32 hole) or the Cannondale Lefty hub (24 or 32 hole). The rear hub needs to be a disk-specific hub compatible with the Shimano 9 speed cassette.

I was originally planning on getting a set of Mavic Open Pro rims, Wheelsmith 14-15 DB spokes with aluminum nipples, WOOdman front hub and I have not decided on the rear hub (American Classic???). I know there are lighter components out there, hence this thread.

TIA!

TIA!Actually, you are looking for 700c road disc brake wheels.

Velocity Razor 32 hole rims. 400g claimed weight.
Sapim CX-Ray spokes.
DT Swiss 240s rear hub or the AmClassic

What do you think of the Velocity Aerohead 700c rims compared to the Razors? On a different website (www.speedgoat.com) they list it at 400 grams. The aero profile should help cut wind resistance.

I like rims with eyelets Razor has them, Aerohead does not. Generally I will not use alloy nipple without eyelets.

The profile of the Aerohead would make it a bit stiffer/stronger.

I would not worry about rim aerodynamics on a Prophet.
