Aloha to all!
So we have some trail issues here for sure. It is disenchanting to know there are some lurking around the forests tearing down your trailwork. In fact, this is a part of life here in Maui.
I just cant seem to understand why Hawaii doesnt have a thriving off-road community that is supported by the regulating authorities. I mean, I just took trip to BC, the riding there is epic, and there is so much of it, almost too many options,(no not really but I am just trying to illustrate a point) Also, the trailcrews there seem quite organized and very skilled. Since I have come back, one of our gap jump landings has been sabotaged and there are threats out to destroy other jumps. This has been ongoing, there are other spots that have to get rebuilt over and over again.
Anyone else out there suffering the same dilemma?
I think if all the mountain bikers in the state of Hawaii would unite together and form an organization like nsmb, perhaps we would recieve some recognition. Its just a start, but I believe this could perhaps lead to an opening to create riding spaces that rival other worldclass destinations.
A little while ago we had an IMBA spokesperson come visit. Many came and just about everyone got fired up but then something lame happened. Everyone basically disappeared.
I just want to know, where did everyone go?
We need to think about the future.
