I have heard good things about a network of trails called Pine Nuts but have not been there yet. I will be there visiting family in Minden, NV around the 15th of April and plan on riding several days while I am there. Carson Valley bike shop can steer you in the right direction once you get there.
Check the Trail Reviews section for more info.

Has a little downhill an almost endless cross crounty, but have your climbin legs on.

Also there is the infamous northstat that is way intense, but need almost a full on downhill rig to ride.

On Peavine you sometimes need your body armour to protect oneself from the mental midgets (no offense intended for those persons of restricted growth - PORGs) who choose to practice their trigger finger on moving targets up there. Plus, compared to Tahoe, it's boring. But at least it's there, and it's open, even to the mental midgets.

Northstar aint that bad if you stay off the double diamonds on an x-c bike ... ive ridden a 97 klein mantra there for 2 years, we will see how my new superlight does this summer.

How do you think an 04 Stinky will handle Northstar?

You know there are all sorts of trails around N*. And N* itself has many levels of trails where they use a ski area color coding system. But know that N* village is a demolition zone right now so I don't know if/when they'll open lift operations. I've spoken to a couple of managers there and they're sure that it will be open. But meanwhile there's always the Sawtooth trail for 15 miles of easy single-track and the 06 fireroad is open (but the gates closed) to the ridge for some early season climbing with only a few snow banks still on the road (can't get to Watson lake though). And the Emigrant Memorial Trail has been open for a month already and most of the streams have dried up.

That's some good info!! Northstars website says the mountain will be open some time in June however, many of the attractions close to the village is closed this summer due to construction. June 18th seems to stick in my head but I'll check it out.

Thanks for the info and maybe I'll see you on the trails.
