Madre's medium Niner has a no spacer setup. The steerer of her Reba is just shy of 6.5"...163mm approx.

You will need a minimum of 6" for small frame (assuming king headset, no spacers, thomson stem) 7" to be safe. And 6.5" minimum for a Medium frame, 7 to 7.5" inches to be safe.

actually, there is one in my local classys. also 5.5". Could it be the same one?
