...will it work? From niners' website:

You'll notice that the SMALL Niner has a slacker head tube angle and a steeper seat tube angle. This was to allow for better toe clearance with the front wheel. With the larger tires of the 29" wheel, toe overlap is an important factor. We had to make sure that with the bottom bracket in the forward most position, there was ample room for a normal size foot to clear the front wheel. If you're 5'6" and wear a size twelve shoe, you might have some problems here, but then again, you should probably be in the circus.

Since my height has me between a large and medium frame, do you think going with a medium (I'm partial to the medium's 23.75" vtt over the large's 24.5") and my freak-show sized hoofs will cause a problem?

I have 'buzzed' my toes in very tight technical and rocky trials type situations on the One Niner a couple of times, but I ride with platform pedals, so sometimes I tend to get my feet too far forward on the pedals. My Niner is a small and I have size 8 shoes.

If you were clipped in, you tend to have your feet further back a bit, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Normally, I have plenty of toe clearance. You have large feet, and I would talk directly to Chris or Steve at One Niner before you decide on the frame size.

Go with large. I am 6 ft. even and for Me the med. would have been a mistake. I have the seatpost real close to the height limit and it did not feel too long in the top tube at all. I went with a 120 mm. stem and it was perfect. Chris suggested a 100 or 110 stem but I have ape-like arms. I would talk to him though, It was a great experience working with this company. Oh yeah, This bike rocks!!! 23 lbs. on the nose without the pop-loc remote installed!

At 5'7" my wife is at the high end of a medium.
You'll fit much better on a large for sure.
She's running a maxed out 375mm post and a 110 stem.

I am on a large Niner, having thought about going medium, I am very glad I went Large. I am running a 90mm stem and an off set seat post and it fits perfect.

I am barely over 6' (like 6'1/2").

On a medium the seat post would have been a little concern, but I think a 400mm would have still worked. I have size 12's and I doubt that it woudl have been an issue on either frame. I disagree that 5'7" is the limit to a medium frame as someone else posted. I can fit on a medium fisher 29er just fine with an offset seatpost and 110mm stem. Fisher's geometry I don't think is that much different from Niners. BUT, I do agree that a large would probably fit you better, as it does me.

I agree. I'm six feet tall and feel that the L is a tad small if anything.

I've always found Niner's advised body length per size a bit optimistic. Go with Large.
Proportions, proportions....adult guy, adult wheels...midget's frame? ;-)

Thanks for the input all.

Looks like it'll be a large afterall.

I'm curious what you see as optomistic about them? Based on the Eff TT sizes I'd say they're exactly in line with most other manufacturers. They specify that they recommend a 400mm seatpost because properly fitted you will likely have a lot of exposed seatpost. A 23.75" Eff TT puts there medium in line with most 19-20" bikes which should certainly be in the range a 6 footer would be looking at.

You can't just say a bike is to be used with a long seatpost, IMO. You get a seatpost that makes you fit a bike. They first meant to make the XL an 18.5, meaning that for the same top tube as on an XL Fisher, you'd need another 2.5" of seatpost. That's corrected now by upping the seat tubes just in time for production, but still the frame are even lower than a Fisher.
I can only speak for the XL, but 6'4"-6'8" is a bit optimistic. I'm 6'4", but I'd max out a 410mm seatpost, and hardly consider myself the shortest possible to "fit" it. Good luck finding a 6'8" rider comfortable with a 20.5" seat tube and a 70mm BB drop. I have a buddy that's 6'1" and needs an XL Fisher.

Just my opinion based on never having seen a single Niner. Would like to see someone with an XL though, Have only seen S's, M's and L's so far I think?

I just need to repeat what I have said. I am a little over 6 feet and this baby fits perfect. I think someone up to about 6'2" could safely/comfortably ride this size Niner, unless you have really long legs and a short torso.

I don't see where it would be a problem. I'm 6'2" and could go either M or L based on measurments from my other MTB. My overall seattube length measured from center of BB to base of seat rails is a touch over 29". so on the M with 16" seattube I would need 13" of seatpost exposed. Using a 410mm Thomson that would still leave 3" of seatpost inside the frame.......plenty for all but the heaviest riders. The Eff TT measurement is almost identical to my 19" frame.

Hmmm...
Still, each frame size is worth 4" in body height. 6'10" on an XL?? There's some facts I seem to be seeing all wrong...
