So, I got back into biking a few months ago after a 5 year absence. I bought an Ibex Alpine 550 and couldn't be happier with it. Shortly thereafter I came across a 2004 Trophy Pro frame on Ebay. I scooped it up for a ridiculously cheap price. It sat in my workroom for about 3 months. On a whim I decided to use it to build my first custom bike. I had taught myself most tune-up jobs on my Alpine but, needless to say, building from scratch was a bit more complicated.

My components were picked for quality and values available within the past few weeks.
A few highlights:
SRAM XGen and X9 derailleurs
Race Face BB and cranks
SRAM PG970 cassette
Zocchi MX Pro ETA fork
Cane Creek S-6 headset
Easton Carbon riser bar
Thompson seatpost
Avid BB discs
Mavic Crossland Enduro UST rims with WTB Weirwolf tires

I took it for a spin around the neighborhood and everything works great. Now I just need to figure out what to do with my Alpine.

Nice work putting it together yourself. I built up my Blur myself, and while most of it was elementary, the crank was a BIATCH! I couldn't believe how much force was required to thread on the crank arm.

As for your Alpine, keep it around for a while. Decide if you want to build a jump bike, or a bike to practice trials, or a commuter bike. If you ride a lot, you'll naturally upgrade your parts and accrue spares. Look around for random "close out" deals and slowly gather all the components for a second bike. Build it up and have fun with the spare! I've been thankful many times that I have done this. When I break my primary ride, it is always good to have a competent backup.
