Hi

In my saturday`s training I hited the floor with all my body, both knees and both elbows. Just after the crash I checked all my body for weird simptons, then I realized that my left knee was hurting, not so bad, but bad enough to be noticed when riding hard.

I came home, take a shower, and it was a little bigger than usual. I can normally walk, support my weight with it, I even ride another 10 km after the fall to come back home.

But I think that it has some fluid inside, because it`s been 36 hours after the crash and it looks like the same, and when I touch it, I feel some "cushion" when before, it wasn`t any.

I think, that it`s a good idea to hear your opinions, and similar experiences with this.

Thanks a lot!
bye

...the best initial antidotes are to apply RICE:

Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation

You're a bit late on this after 36 hours, but it should still work. Don't apply the ice for longer than 10 minutes at a time. Anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen can help considerably as well. If, after the swelling goes down it still hurts, especially if it only hurts when you put strain or weight on the joint, go see a specialist immediately.

The knee is a very complicated joint, and this injury could be anything. Tendonitis, cracked patella, bone bruise...but unless something is torn, nearly all knee injuries have one good cure: REST.

Take some Ibuprofen soon. As stated, it can do wonders. At least it will minimize the effects somewhat.

Both my knees are bad(and one elbow. Just had it injected with cortizone yet again last week). Typically, the WORST that can happen in the short term, is the need to have it drained. Then they usually leave the needle in, and inject cortizone back into the knee. Does wonders. But, be aware that cortizone itself helps degenerate the joint, so its a double edged sword.
