My 2.4" WTB Motorapators are getting close to retirement. Anyone have any experience w/ the Trail Bears? Thanx

I've been using a Trail Bear 2.25 on the front for about 6 months.I ride in Northern N.J. on rocky singletrack.I have to say these tires are great as a front tire(haven't tried it on the rear). They seem to be wearing well and have great directional stability.Oh and no pinch flats yet at 33 psi.

I also haven't tried the 2.5 but I run the 2.25 on 2 of my bikes! Great tire works great in all conditions, from dry and dusty to wet and muddy. Wears like iron! And a reasonable weight. So I would assume the the 2.5 would be a good one tooooooo

If you need one I have one low mileage, as a rear they are fine and wear well as a front but they go where-ever they please which might not be in your plans, good roller scarey in the turns especially in the loose...

I run a 2.5 front, and a 2.25 rear. Been on these tires for 4+ seasons.(not the same pair:) ).I can't stop buying these as replacements. For $20 there's nothing that compares, at least for me. They wear great, reasonabally light, pedal okay once worn in a bit. The sidewalls might be a little thin, but I've never had on issue. As far as the 2.5 on the front, I'd call it predictable, definitley not scarey.(Though tire pressure, suspension, head angle, etc.. variables could vary well yield different interpretations.) I can say, I really like these tires. Now I did just recently convert them to Stan's, on my Singletrack's. No problems yet, finger's crossed;) . I really hope they hold up. They pedal soo much better now. D

I use the 2.5" version (tubeless conversion on Mavic 819) and have been totally pleased with it's performance as long as I don't exceed 30 psi. Over 30 psi and its traction goes out the door on my rocky, loose over rock terrain. They wear great and I haven't had any problems with tears or punctures to the casings. I'll only use them for rear tires as I reserve the fronts for Kenda's 'sticky' rubber tires i.e. Nevagals and Blue Grooves. Nothing compares to these tires for front tire use.

using one on the back of my hardtail, and i really like it as a general all around tire. beefier than most xc/lighter tires, yet not full on DH tire heft.

combo with a 2.5 kenda blue groove sticky up front, and it's a great setup!

running both about 25-30psi most of the time.

I did not particularly care for the 2.4 Motoraptors, ok in back but washed the front on anything loose. The 2.5 trailbear would be an excellent choice as a replacement. Skinny sidewalls so don't try running them tubeless, but no problems otherwise. The weight is right, the performance always pleased me as well. Can't beat 'em for 20 bones. I broke mine in at big bear a couple of years ago and they were the dogs bullocks up front on my Coiler. I had no trouble sticking with a buddy who was on the 2.5 T-wolves. Those are tanks and are super predictable in the loose, but the bear had no bad tentencies. I still run the 2.25 version front & rear on my HT and sometimes on my Heckler.

Recommended for Southern Cal dry, dusty & rocky terrain. The only reason they're not still on my Coiler is I switched to tubeless.

IRC Trailbear 2.25s are GOOD! IRC Trailbear 2.5s are GOODER! Massive fan of the tire - in either size - and I would never hesitate to recommend these tires to anyone. Generous volume, superb grip, excellent control, optimal weight, they truly are brilliant tires. I believe one of the online shops - Price Point, maybe? - has got them under their usual $20 price tag right now. Get a pair in each size!
