I have posted several times in the Ibex forum about my Ignition 2. When I bought it I didn't know much about bikes. I have been riding for many years on a KHS FXT Sport which suited me fine, but when it came time to buy a bike I went by reviews that were within my price range. Knowing what I do now, I should have spent more on my bike. Or maybe not. I have learned alot about my bike, and made some upgrades to turn my Ignition 2 into the perfect bike for me. So here is a list of upgrades...
Cane Creek S2 headset $30 Performance
Junked the Alivio FD for an LX $18 Ebay
Thomson X4 stem $51 Ebay
Thomson seatpost $40 Ebay
XT RD $35 Ebay
SID dual Air rear shock w/lockout $85 ebay.
Shimano SPD pedals Free form friend
Add that up it's just over $250. Look at the quality of bike I have when you add the $569 I paid for the bike. Jack has been a bunch of help along the way. And I can now do my own maintenance. Man, ebay and the internet are a great learning tool.

I also bought a I2, and did upgrade it.
S6 headset, X4 stem. I want to do more...
Can you advise me on which RD & FD model #s to look for?
What about the Crankset or cog set?
Did you get the Easton CF handle bars yet?
also how does the SID work for you?
I had bought the SPD pedal but I didnt like them.
thanks!

Well, my LBS told me that 9 speed derailleurs will work with an 8 speed drivetrain. So I purchased a LX M567 FD and a m750 RD. I was going to buy a rapid rise RD but I was not sure if it would work with the Ig.2 shifters. I don't have the RD installed yet but the FD is great, so much smoother and more reliable. Still have not looked into crankset. Waiting to find a better deal on the Easton CF handle bars. The SID is not yet installed either I just picked it up off Ebay yesterday. But it should be great. Much improved over the vector shock. WIth the stem and seatpost I sit in a much more agressive stance. And the pedals really make a difference on the upstroke. I love this bike.

Depends on how much you want to spend. The XT is the higher model, thus cots more. As far as the front goes some people say there is little difference in the LX and XT. I went with an LX front and XT rear. Hey, if you can find an XT FD for $20 or so get it.

Rapid Rise derailleurs work just fine with the stock shifters, however, they are reversed from the normal rear operation (hence rapid-rise) - It drove me nuts trying to get used to using one with my XT M760 RD. I ended up picking up a set of M960 STI levers, and have become quite comfortable with them. The 760 FD is also quite nice, though noticibly narrower than the stock FD was on my '04 Ignition 2. After some adjusting, I got everything working just fine with my XT 9 speed cassette, and LX cranks. (I'm an upgrade junkie for everything I own...)
