Hi All:
I visit my parents in Ann Arbor a few times a year. I usually hit Poto or Brighton, but I'd like to czech out Highland on my next visit(this summer). Anyone have any pics or 411?
Thanks,
Steve in San Diego

... but there's a little blurb on the MMBA website:
* Highland State Recreational Area (http://pacman.vosn.net/~mmba/archive/mg/html/trail.htm#hsra)
I haven't ridden there yet, but it sounds like a rather technical trail.
Hope that helps,

Before I moved to CO... From what I remember, it's a fun trail, lots of loop options, and plenty of little technical sections. Don't remember much vertical. I should try to ride it again next time I'm home and there's no snow, see how my perspective has changed.

Highland is rolling at best. No real climbing at all but very technical. Its tight, rocky, rooty, and stupid fun. I think the length is about 16 miles but it feels like 40 by the time you fiish the D loop. Definitely worth the trip. If you are doing a 2 day (camping) do highland day1 then Poto, not vice versa. You'll be gassed if you do Poto first then Highland.

I rode this trail last year and it was a blast. I rode it after I did the Pickney Rec Area. Let me tell you it kicked my but and I wish I would have done this one first. It feels like 40 miles for sure. I never got going fast... But it was an awesome ride and I am going to ride it again for sure.
Next time I will be a little more prepared... Its like out in the middle of no where tooo

It's really not very photogenic. It's very tightly twisting, gently rolling hillsy, woodsy trails. In most places on that trail the trees are very close in to the singletrack. I always end up with bruised hips and shoulders from bumping trees when I try to ride fast there. It's a very fun trail to ride.
