Hey,

Heard that it's not good to throw a double crown on the haro bikes because they have an integrated headset...
What does integrated headset mean?
And would ya'll advise putting a double crown on?

Thanks,

Integrated headsets don't use cups that are pressed into the headtube like a normal headset. Instead, the headtube is made to house the cartridge bearings on top and bottom. I wouldn't put a dual crown on if it says not too, mainly cause the aluminum bearing races (the headtube on an integrated headset bike) are not nearly as strong as a good dh headset with steel cups...King Steelset, FSA pig dh.

I've not seen specifically that it says not to use one, only what i've heard..

use the Zero Stack headset, which means there are still cups pressed in to the frame, they just have less height. There's a good article on these at King's website.

Also, the new Giant AC1 comes with a dual crown and uses an FSA headset that is basically the same as the Zero Stack that comes on the Haros (you could take the Giant headset and put it on the Haro, and vice versa). So it's not really the headset that will be the limiting factor.

To me, the newer Extreme series looks very burly, so I'd think it would be OK with a DC (maybe not an Avalanche, but something more reasonable). But I don't know about warranty issues.
